Company Repertoire is great for building teamwork, not only for learning how to dance together in formations and to be doing exactly the same as others, but also for learning how to be still. All these are, as with a lot of things, much more difficult than they look, great for discipline, partly responsible for defining a Company’s credentials, and when done well, look wonderful.
Walk-on parts and corps de ballet work are usually the first things dancers will be part of when they join a Company. How well dancers decide to tackle the challenges of these may and can, determine the progress of their career.
I feel privileged to have been granted permission from some Company Directors and/or Trusts to teach a range of Corps de Ballet Repertoire and I consider this to be an added extra for the studios where I currently teach.
